What is a ratrod anyway? A ratrod is a barebones old car built for speed and racing. Building a rat rod required some time, labor, knowledge, good planning. The body of your rat rod itself is probably the most important decision you are going to make. Okay. Here is a simple step if you considered to build rat rod.
Car Body
There is a much broader selection and availability of other cars and trucks that will make a great rat rod project. You can pick your car body from any brand. Dodge, Ford and Chrysler for example. Choosing light weigh old car frame. Make sure you inspect all the car on a personal basis. If possible, you may want to ask a friends with good knowledge about mechanic or seasoned mechanic for the same. Engine
You need powerful engine. Many V-6 or V-8 engines available that are just as serviceable, good condition and easily available. Raw power of the engine is the goal, so make sure you get something big and powerful. Many rat rods are built on a relatively small or little budget. Many people picked small block chevrolet motors because they are easily available and cheap.
Main Installation
Now you have a body frame and engine. It is the time to put it this basic stuff together before any other accessories installation. Inspect the old car frame , strengthen the frame by welding in some tube steel in all the crucial places. You should replace any crucial parts like the oil pump, water pump and alternator.
Interior
Most rat rods do not have a upholstered interior. They take anything out. They just throw out any blanket to cover. Interior is up to you to decide. But important part like gas pedal, brake, clutch pedals and stick are extremely important to make sure your ratrod is safe.
Exterior
You want your project look pretty. Do some paint jobs. You might want to add some cool racing flare such as a spoiler or air vents to your vehicle. Picking cool Tires and Rims is important for nicer exterior look.
Road Test
You should make sure that everything work as planned. This includes the suspension, engine, transmission, steering, gas, brakes, acccessories etc.
